The Law of Concentrated Attention: Self Hypnosis vs. the Hypnotist

When it comes to hypnosis, one on one therapy certainly has its benefits. However, one of the advantages of recorded self-hypnosis sessions is the ability to listen as often as you like. Hypnotherapy works because deep relaxation allows the unconscious to be more open to suggestion.

Talk to any hypnotist about suggestion and they will tell you about the law of concentrated attention. The more you hear something, the more you hear the suggestion, the more likely it is that suggestion will be taken on board at an unconscious level.

With audio sessions you can benefit from deep relaxation once or even twice a day. The more you listen, the deeper the message is received. Of course, regular deep relaxation such as this is therapeutic in itself. But audio sessions are also empowering.

When you choose this type of hypnosis, you are in the driver’s seat, so to speak. You have chosen to takes steps that will improve your understanding of yourself and your mind, and that will improve your well being.

Obviously if you go to see a live therapist working one to one, you will probably work on more specific problems. It’s all part of that live interaction between people. But the cost of doing so can be quite expensive. It goes without saying that it is less costly to use audio recordings. I do believe in the personal aspect of the one on one session, but I have no doubt in the great value that recorded hypnosis offers. This is why I offer both options and sometimes suggest a combination of the two.

Some people may think that self hypnosis CDs and hypnosis downloads are just not as good as the real thing or that they don’t work, but I certainly disagree. They are very effective! I have seen and personally experienced the results. The bottom line of hypnosis is about suggestion and, as I said earlier, the more people hear the suggestion the more likely it is to be productive.

We are all unique beings. There is no set way of doing anything across the board that will work for everyone. If you have access to one on one therapy then that is great, but don’t underestimate the value of self hypnosis recordings. If you are willing to dedicate the time to deep relaxation and allow the suggestions to work with your unconscious mind, you can benefit from self hypnosis.
