As We Think, We Feel

We all know that the way we think, makes a difference to how we feel emotionally. How we feel emotionally also has a direct effect on our physical experience i.e. what we feel inside our bodies.

The more intense the thoughts, the greater the feeling, situations which involve worry, anger, anxiety or fear etc. cause our bodies to react and respond in certain ways. Sometimes if we feel anxious about something we might feel sick or it might feel like we have butterflies in our stomach. We might also experience a tightening feeling in the chest making it difficult to breathe properly. Because each and every person is different, our response tends to be different, both emotionally and physically.

If we continue to experience situations where we experience uncomfortable thoughts and negative feelings, it can sometimes cause symptoms or uncomfortable feelings. This can sometimes feel like a vicious circle. Many times a client will say, “it all feels like a vicious circle, I just feel like I’m going round and around in a circle”. It’s reasonable to assume that the client actually does feel this going around and around feeling and are using these words in an attempt to describe what they experience. So what and how we think can ever direct connection to how we feel emotionally and also our physical experience.

So what can we do about all this, of course I would suggest we take time out to relax our mind and body. To my mind, the best way to achieve this is to use creative hypnotic relaxation. Hypnotic relaxation is safe and natural and is the ideal way to help ourselves to relax and unwind. Just like a pebble thrown in the pool, the more we relax in this way, the more the waves of relaxation run into our everyday life. When we take time out to relax safely and naturally in this way, we can relax our body and we can relax our mind.  This allows our creative mind to wander using our imagination and we can use this time to continue to learn different ways of responding to the stresses and strains and challenges that we all face in our daily lives.
