Self Hypnosis Brings Balance
The power of self hypnosis to bring about and maintain the balance of the system is incredible. I have seen quite literally thousands of clients benefit from hypnosis. Hypnosis helps to restore equilibrium in our emotions, and on the physiological side in our bodies and to our thoughts. In addition to balance, hypnosis can offer relief to many physical and emotional conditions as well.
Physically, the use of self hypnosis in pain management has proven highly effective. People who suffer through constant physical pain can use hypnotherapy in conjunction with traditional pain management, such as medication, to ease their symptoms. Yet hypnosis on its own can also be very effective and offers an entirely natural approach to treating pain. It’s just a fantastic way of reducing the discomfort that we feel.
Discomfort is not only a physical experience; we have all experienced troubling thoughts and emotions, some of which run very deep. I’m certain that hypnosis can be effective in treating these emotional conditions and problems. One way it works is by allowing a person to link and connect more readily with how they are feeling deep down. When we talk of these feelings “deep down” – what we are really talking about is how we are feeling at an unconscious level. Hypnosis works because it targets the unconscious, therefore treating the source of our discomfort.
But many people shy away from the use of self hypnosis because they don’t understand how hypnosis works, or fear they can not be hypnotised. What they may not realise is that they probably experience hypnosis on a daily basis. Hypnosis is not sleep and it’s not really awake. It’s the place just in between.
So when we wake up every morning, we enter a naturally occurring hypnotic state. It is this bridge between being asleep and awake that is actually called the hypnopompic state. Sometimes I lie in bed in the morning after I have awakened, but I keep my eyes closed, and I just think about what I am going to be doing that day. This relaxed state in between my sleeping and waking is a natural state of hypnosis really, which is why using hypnosis for sleep is highly effective. The opposite, which we experience as we go from being fully awake to being asleep, is called the hypnogogic state.
So if you have any doubts that you are able to experience hypnosis, know that we all experience it naturally at least twice a day. By purposefully entering hypnosis we have an opportunity to foster physical and emotional balance on an unconscious level and improve the quality of our lives
