The Creation of Fears and Phobias

Did you know that we spend more time talking to ourselves than to other people? Often we are not consciously aware of the inward gossip we have taking place in our heads.

We speak to ourselves in a language which has special meaning to us based on past previous experience. We decide we know what a car looks like from previous experience of seeing one. When we hear birds singing, we will be automatically reminded of past times when hearing or seeing them before. If we see people riding on a roller coaster, we will be reminded also from our past feeling associated with riding on one.

An interesting thought is, our minds are clever enough to even ‘make up’ what it might be like to ride on a roller coaster, even if we haven’t been near one. Thus creating feelings around this subject for our mind to use for future times. Then, in the future, if we feel scared, sad, happy, whatever the feeling, we are reminded of that too.

For instance, Mary always liked working in her garden; planting new bulbs and watching them grow. She also liked to smell the smell of freshly cut grass until the farmer one day was ‘manure spreading’ in a nearby field. Mary instantly felt sick (setting a memory in her mind to be automatically used for future times). However, she continued cutting the grass and because she was particularly tired that day after working the previous; she slipped and cut the cable with her lawn mower. Not causing herself any harm, but certainly shaking herself up.

Mary now goes into the garden to cut her grass regularly (as usual) and as she does, she remembers and wonders if there might be a horrible smell today (oh, and while she is remembering the smell, she also thinks she had better be careful not to cut another cable on her new lawn mower!) Are you getting my drift?

In a similar way, we collect bad memories to create fears, phobias and irrational feelings surrounding something or other, like the fear of spiders, fear of flying etc.

Self hypnosis can help work at a deeper level to blow the irrationality ‘out of the water’ so to speak and help us to get our jobs done in life more efficiently.

Mary now sits in her garden, on her patio and feels sick each time she sits down and cannot explain why. She has also started to feel a little jumpy around machinery in her house, but cannot quite figure why.

However small a problem as this may seem, I have spoken with many people who actually feel embarrassed about their fears and phobias, which are personal to them. One lady was very scared of feathers and was in a constant state of stress and anxiety; she felt very embarrassed to tell another and had suffered with it for years. Now, after listening to our self-hypnosis CD recording for phobias, she goes out shopping and does not have that worry at all, because together, we reached that deeper level.

We are all different and experience everything through our own senses; there is no measuring stick as to whether your fear of phobia is bad enough for you to get the help you need. We believe if something in life is stopping you in any way, from doing anything, there is always something you can do about it. Have a go with our freedom from phobias self hypnosis CD and notice how different you do start to feel.
