For those people who have spoken to me about their pain; it can take over their life. Often their life is ruled around whether they can or cannot do something or go somewhere. This can be so disabling for them.
In teaching many people the skill of self-hypnosis the results have been so good, clients have said they get their life back. Not for a minutes, would I recommend intervening with conventional medicine and regular attendances with medical professionals. What I am saying is that by using self-hypnosis to manage pain it simply helps people to relax from the vicious circle of discomfort. You see, as the body feels pain, often muscles can tighten up due to the anxiety experienced with the unpleasantness of the feeling. This can cause even more pain and discomfort and cause even more problems for the person. Deeply relaxing regularly can (and indeed has) help people feel more free from pain.
At a deeper level, sometimes, without realising it, we can have patterns within our unconscious, which are particularly unhelpful. It may be that in the past if we were unwell, we got attention and love. Why shouldn’t we? Yes, of course we should. As a child, if they get ill, the first thing they experience is being cared for.
However, sometimes that kind of pattern can become somewhat of a problem because our unconscious stores all these ways of behaving, whether helpful or not. It might be that we automatically feel ill or get a headache if we want attention. It could be that we prevent ourselves from getting better, for fear of not getting attention or feeling love. Who knows? We are all different and each person’s life story is different. What I am saying, is using self-hypnosis, be it through therapy or listening to one of our hypnosis CD’s (or hypnosis downloads); the process can help you change for the better.
