It’s good to get problems out in the open. Sometimes people to just sit on certain issues and try to forget them, but even though we consciously try to ignore our feelings they can still affect us and bother us. In actuality, talking about a problem can help change the way we feel about it and set us free from the negative emotions surrounding it.
If I’m talking to you about a problem and how I feel about it, it gives you a chance to say, “well, have you ever thought about it this way?” Talking it out provides us with an opportunity to get objective feedback from another person. Of course, only if you are willing to open your world and start talking about it can you see those other viewpoints. Sometimes just talking about something openly can help you see things differently too, without any mention or suggestion from someone else.
When I meet with a client and we use hypnosis, sometimes I have them open their eyes and talk to me about how they are feeling what they’re thinking in regards to their problem. In a state of hypnosis they are able to connect that much more readily with their memories and emotions. It’s kind of like opening a book that’s been closed for a long time. You might have even forgotten you had the book and then when you reread it suddenly you see it completely differently. You have an entirely new perspective of the story. You see information and possibilities there that you never even noticed before.
Since hypnosis allows you to connect more easily to your emotions, revisiting thoughts and feelings about something from the past is that much more eye-opening. When your thoughts about a particular issue have been bottled up and stored away for such a long time, you might not even realise that you don’t really even need then anymore. Hypnosis is an excellent way to air everything out and finally let it go.
Locking your skeletons up in a closet doesn’t make them go away. Your feelings will still be there and have an impact on your life. I have absolutely no doubt that if somebody is willing to talk about their feelings and explore their emotions in conjunction with hypnosis, they will see immediate benefit. Set yourself free.
