Rapport, to me, is the feelings between two people that they are able to get along and that they are kind of on the same wavelength. It’s the key to any effective communication, really. There are many ways to achieve rapport with people and have more effective communications in all aspects of your life. A few ways to do this is to look people in the eye and truly listen to them. People can tell when you’re listening and when you’re not. You can make them feel at home and comfortable, and ask them questions about their life. You can join in their beliefs systems, and talk about your mutual views of the world. All of these practises will help you build better bonds with people, strengthen your communications, and build rapport.

Obviously, in one-to-one hypnosis rapport is extremely important. If you’re not comfortable speaking to someone, you won’t be able to communicate with them very effectively. This would obviously be highly counterproductive to any hypnotherapy. Hypnosis requires you to relax and trust the person guiding you through suggestions and visualizations. You have to be able to open up and be honest about your feelings and certain details of your life. If you’ve are able to build rapport with a hypnotist, it’s much easier to tell them about your personal thoughts and feelings.

When there’s trust in place, you are able to feel safe and secure in the relationship. Rapport is important to removing any blockages between you and your hypnotist and allowing communication to flow freely. The more rapport you have, the more effective your hypnosis sessions will be. It’s simple; hypnosis works best when the hypnotist has a clear picture of what the client needs and wants to achieve.

But how does one have rapport with a hypnotist when their hypnosis session is recorded? Well, believe it or not, you actually can have rapport with the hypnotherapist this way. As you listen to the voice of the hypnotist, you begin to feel you know them. They are in a way speaking directly to you about something possibly quite intimate. Because you feel safe and secure with this voice, you have developed somewhat of a rapport. Hypnosis is about relaxing and feeling secure. Having rapport with your hypnotist, and with the people in your life, can make a world of difference in your experiences.
